Our Mission, History & Approach

Our Mission

Provide a behavioral health system of care that sustains recovery and returns individuals to their families and communities.

Our History

After providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders in the Metro Atlanta community for 60 years as St. Jude’s Recovery Center, we have changed our legal name to Ascensa Health, Inc. The agency’s new legal name to reflects the changes and growth of the organization since its founding in 1962, as well as the organization’s vision for the future of recovery in Atlanta.

Ascensa Health, Inc. was established in 1962 by a partnership of downtown Atlanta business leaders, judges and inner-city churches to address the problem of chronic alcoholic court offenders. Since then, the organization has grown from owning one facility to owning eight facilities in Metro Atlanta. The organization operates with a balanced budget and is debt free.
