Ascensa Health provides a full continuum of care that includes integrated services to treat the whole person.
We believe that addiction is a disease and we support individuals and families over a lifetime of recovery.

Medically Monitored, Sub-Acute, Inpatient Detoxification

Ascensa Health’s Detoxification program is a 24-bed, medically monitored, residential, sub-acute detoxification program. This level of care serves clients who are intoxicated, in imminent withdrawal, or experiencing withdrawal symptoms that require 24-hour medical supervision, but do not require the intensity of hospital detoxification services. Ascensa Health also provides detox services to clients who need a controlled and safe environment to interrupt their “cycle of use.”

In the initial phase of treatment, clients are monitored for withdrawal symptoms and given scrutinized physical observation. Clients are provided with a nutritionally balanced diet, plenty of fluids, rest, comfort, and support, as well as a safe and conducive environment for detoxification.

The duration of the detoxification period is individualized. Clients can stay for up to 20 days. Withdrawal symptoms are resolved before a client is transitioned to the next level of care.

Residential Services

Ascensa Health’s Residential Treatment programs are designed to address all emotional, physical, recreational, employment, spiritual, community living and social needs that a client may have. Comprehensive addiction and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment is provided through coordinated day, evening and weekend activities. Treatment services are evidence-based and individualized to meet the needs of each client.

Residential clients participate in an intensive day treatment program that encompasses individual and group therapy, as well as educational groups. A multi-disciplinary team reviews each client’s status weekly, noting treatment progress. If necessary, additional treatment interventions are implemented, and the client’s activity in the program is prolonged.

Community living and social issues naturally arise in any residential setting. These issues are conscientiously monitored at Ascensa Health. A weekly community meeting is designed to promote cooperation, open dialogue, civic responsibility, and interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Personal responsibility for the community is emphasized. All residents are required to clean their own bedrooms, as well as common living areas.

Men’s Residential Treatment Program

This 54-bed program provides housing and addiction treatment for adult men. The men live in a therapeutic community and are required to participate in a structured program. Length of stay is determined on an individual basis, depending on level of care needed. Upon completion of this program, clients are required to obtain and maintain employment and attend evening addiction treatment activities, including 12-Step meetings.

Women’s Residential Treatment Program

This 18-bed program provides housing and addiction treatment for adult women who live in a therapeutic community and participate in a structured addiction treatment program. Length of stay is determined on an individual basis, depending on level of care needed. Upon completion of this program, clients are required to obtain and maintain employment and attend evening addiction treatment activities, including 12-Step meetings.

Health Services

Residential clients receive integrated treatment services that include addiction treatment, physical health care and mental health treatment. The agency’s onsite Health Services Department evaluates each residential client’s physical health and provides primary healthcare depending on the client’s need. Prescription and over the counter medications are provided by the agency’s onsite Physician to treat client health conditions, helping each client focus on their addiction treatment.

The Health Services Department coordinates physical, health-related, nutritional, and recreational activities for the clients. Menus are planned for the clients to ensure that their special dietary needs are met. The nursing staff consults the resident’s medical records and designs and monitors individualized physical exercise and recreation plans.

Employment Services

The Employment Services program provides increased support to clients to help them obtain employment and move toward self-sufficiency. This program is a critical support for client success, as many of Ascensa Health’s clients have difficulty finding employment because they lack job-seeking experience, a work history, occupational skills, and/or have a criminal history. Employment helps clients have a greater consciousness of community and a greater sense of autonomy, empowering them to find stability in all aspects of life.

The Employment Services Program at Ascensa Health teaches clients several instrumental skills to help them find and secure employment, leading to a successful, self-sustaining future. Services include financial literacy education, job training, resume writing, job search and interviewing skills, career counseling, and post-employment support groups. Individuals who participate in the Employment Services program are residential clients at Ascensa Health.

Post-Treatment Continuing Care

Continuing Care provides long-term treatment and support, which empowers clients to maintain long-term recovery. For these clients, the agency provides additional group therapy to address issues, such as maintaining employment and developing social skills. Clients are also supported as they search for permanent housing.

Outpatient Services

Like the agency’s Residential Treatment Services, Ascensa Health’s Outpatient Treatment Program is a structured day program that provides treatment and education to clients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Outpatient program, however, provides treatment for clients who do not require inpatient residential care. Treatment is individualized and guided by a comprehensive treatment plan that establishes measurable treatment goals and objectives.

The length of the program is from eight to ten weeks, depending on the client’s needs. A multi-disciplinary team reviews each client’s status weekly, noting treatment progress. If necessary, additional treatment interventions are implemented, and the client’s activity in the program is prolonged. Clients participate in the program for four to five hours each day, Monday through Friday. Groups and classes concentrate on teaching clients new behaviors and skills that promote abstinence from alcohol and drugs. Groups also provide therapeutic interventions to address other emotional and/or behavioral problems associated with addiction. In addition to groups, outpatient clients meet with their Clinician each week for individual therapy.

Family Services

Through the Family Services program, the agency provides services not only to individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, but to the client’s entire family and/or support system. Individuals and families receive a solid understanding of substance use disorder, coping skills, healthy boundaries, the process of enabling and the value of the 12-step program. Family participation empowers clients to maintain long-term sobriety and self-sufficiency.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered at no cost to uninsured clients with an opioid or alcohol addiction. The program uses a multi-faceted approach, combining medication with case management and day treatment services. The monthly Vivitrol injection provided onsite by the agency offers a safeguard to the participant, preventing them from overdose, cravings and feeling the effects of opiates and alcohol. MAT allows the participant to focus on recovery treatment without the overwhelming urge to use, leading to better outcomes for the client. MAT injections are also available to individuals from the community who are receiving addiction treatment from other treatment providers.
